I Wonder If I Could Finish My Own Basement?
I keep thinking to myself “why pay for a home with a finished basement when I could do it myself?” I know lots of people would think I’m crazy - only a man can do that! - but I don’t see why, if a guy could figure it out, why couldnt I??
I know I’d need to take lots of classes at Home Depot about tiles, framing walls and Cat 5 cable, but I can’t help but think that I could do it. Why not??

As a contractor and a published construction writer, this is not something that you should take on yourself without knowledgeable help.
First of all the classes at Home Depot are not adequate enough bercause they don’t show you everything. The other thing is that the books are written by writers who have never worked in the construtction field and are full of errors.
The best thing for you to do is to find a contractor boyfriend that will work on it and show you how to do things. There is way more to learn than what you would learn in a class or a book. What you will end up with is a very amateurish looking job becuase you are not a pro and it will actually detract from the value of your house.
