Did you happen to see Oprah today? Pretty interesting to say the least. Lots of talk about sex and, ahem, Erotica (aka “porn” for those who can call it as it is) - she even ended the show with a couple who discussed their open marriage. Being nosey like I am, I watched with interest
In the case of the couple on her show, an open marriage for them means that either one of them is welcome to have a full-blown, in-love-with-someone-else relationship. So, the wife is now dating and sleeping with a man who was their friend for years - incidentally the “friend” she is dating and sleeping with is also in a life-relationship with someone else.
Her husband says it was a problem at the start but he agreed to it when he suggested it way back when - I guess he felt like he couldn’t go back on his promise to her. Now he says it’s fine with him and, though he has flirted a bit with other women, he isn’t dating anyone.
What really struck me was that his wife actually, after a night of board games with the group of friends, will go to bed with the family friend in the guest room of their home. I’m not sure about that one folks - I might be nodding “have a nice night honey” and loading the gun LOL!!

Two days ago a friend asked me what I do when I’m feeling blue. I had to think about it a bit because I wasn’t sure what to say. The thing is, what works for me may not work for someone else.
I decided to be honest and tell her what works for me but that we are all different ;) So, I shared that I
- watch a funny movie to get me laughing
- go ahead and have a Whopper with cheese and fries on the side
- go to the library, pick a good book and read ’till my sad feelings have passed
- talk to a friend who tends to have funny stories - not so I can share my feelings but so that I can hear his/her funny ones.
- remind myself that life is short and I deserve to be happy so if something is wrong, I need to fix it not dwell on it
So, that’s my list. There are probably lots of other things too but those are a start. What things do you like to do to cheer yourself up?

A friend emailed me a couple of days ago to share a GREAT chore chart she had found online. I was SO excited to check it out; my kids need a chore chart badly. I really think it’ll help them to remember what they are expected to do each morning for school - without my reminding them every 30 seconds.
ANYWAY, :D, When the page loaded I realized, GASP, it was a chart for…. me! Specifically, those of us in charge of our homes - cleaning, organizing etc.. I was disappointed at first, just for a second, and then I realized that a lot of moms out there would LOVE a chart to remind them of what to do each day of the week to keep their homes in order
The best part is, it’s really reasonable at only $4 for a year’s worth (if I remember exactly). If you give it a try, please let me know what you think

I had no idea you could engrave so much on a wedding ring. I came across this site with lots of vows that can be engraved on rings for men and women. You just pick out your vow, verse, quotation or poem right online and it’s shipped out to you.
This is a neat way to do something different when you get married. You can pick out a vow or verse that really means something to you and your fiance.
Some of the verses were just funny, like:
“Keep Your ring on! Paying alimony is like paying installments on a car after you’ve wrecked it.”
“As we slide down the bannister of life, May the splinters never point the wrong way.”
“Keep your eyes wide open before marriage, and half-shut afterwards. ~ Benjamin Franklin ”
Well not very romantic but hey, maybe perfect for someone!
If you want to read more or see the rings the site is here: Wedding Vow Rings

Hey tommorrow is Valentine’s Day! Here are some last minute ideas for V-Day:
- Chocolate Fondue - After the kids are in bed grab the fondue pot, some chocolate and strawberries, pineapple and whatever fruits you like and have a romantic chocolate fondue by candlelight.
- Dinner - If you’re going to brave the restaurants on Valentine’s Day then make sure you can ahead and grab a reservation.
- Massage Kit - You can quickly make your loved one a massage kit by heading to your local drug store. They usually have at least a small selection of massage oils. Grab some bubble bath, and a couple of candles and you’ve got a romantic night all planned out.
I hope this gives you some ideas you can do last-minute. Also you can pop over to Romance Your Husband for some more ideas.
