I wonder if those foam mattress toppers are healthy.

Alpine Village Family April 19th, 2008

Do you know the ones I mean? The ones that look like egg cartons but are made of squishy foam. They make a great mattress topper because they take any mattress and make it WAY more comfortable.

What worries me though is the smell of them. They smell like chemicals. I can’t help but wonder if they are healthy for kids to smell for 8 or 10 hours a night. But then I’m a bit on the paranoid side ;) .

How long is too long for a child’s name?

Alpine Village Family April 19th, 2008

Friends of ours have a child named Karley-Ann Vanessa Michelle (and a long last name that I’ll keep to myself for privacy reasons). It’s a lovely name and none of my business I suppose but between you and I, I think it’s a bit too long. Makes me wonder if she’ll end up shortening it to KVM and be one of those kids whose names you never really know because they go by the acronym.

Would you like to go on a cruise? Not me.

Alpine Village Family April 17th, 2008

I wish I liked the idea of going on cruises for a vacation. I like all the bits and pieces of it a lot. Love the close proximity of all the fun stuff; love the idea of getting to stop at different ports to see different places; love the idea of not having to drive; love the all you can eat buffetts and entertainment - love it all. But darn it, why does it all have to mean floating in reallllllllly deep water??? Ever since Titanic I can’t seem to shake the idea of the ship sinking while I’d be sleeping. Not good.

Toyroom Tidy Time

Alpine Village Family April 17th, 2008

I want to get some games to play with the kids. Recently Hubby cleaned up the toyroom and pretty much gave away 3/4 of the toys and stuff. I really have to walk away when he cleans. I want to keep everything which is not condusive to a good tidy LOL! :D

I wonder how often other parents clean out their kids’ toyrooms…

What do your kids do with Birthday money?

Alpine Village Family April 17th, 2008

We’ve had some dilemmas with the kids when they get checks for their birthdays. I think that the kids should be able to spend some of it; Hubby thinks they should have to deposit it into their savings accounts and leave it there.

The thing is, it’s his family giving the checks and I really do think they just write a check because it’s easier than getting cash and that their intention is for the kids to be able to spend the money. I wish Hubby would just ask what they want the kids to do with the money… but he won’t - grrrr.

Peeking At Someone’s Online History??

Alpine Village Family April 12th, 2008

Have you ever been on someone’s computer and, just out of pure nosiness, hit Ctrl H to see what their surfing history was? I’ve done it once with Hubby’s laptop and it was pretty funny ;) In all honesty, computer memory can be a bit scarey when you think of what all someone can find out about you just with a bit of snooping  . Best make sure you don’t go anywhere, or look up anything, that you’d not want anyone to know about!

Bedtime Movies? Yes please!

Alpine Village Family April 12th, 2008

I’m enjoying a relaxing evening watching TV with Hubby. We’re about to watch a movie and I’m pretty excited that we’ve just discussed putting a TV in the bedroom :D .

I know, I know, lots of people say it’s a bad idea but I’ve been wanting to cuddle up in the sheets and watch a movie for eons. He said that we just need our friend (who’s an electrician), some CAT6 cable and a new TV and we’re all set! So, tomorrow we’re off to Costco to get a TV - yay!

Two

Alpine Village Family April 11th, 2008

Well, I started with my personal trainer on Monday and I have to say it’s gone really well! I get to warm up on a treadclimber - which is like a treadmill and stairclimber mixed together - very fun! I have to add though, that my treadmill faces the designer jewelry

It’s movie night folks!

Alpine Village Family April 5th, 2008

My life is totall passing me by today (well, always really but let’s not even go there right now ;) ). I live in this house but things have been decided for me all day - ending with right now which is movie time. Started at the absolute best time of 8pm - which is normally their bedtime but hey, as hubby says, it’s the weekend.

This makes no sense to me but hey, i just live here. My daughter is already yawning and the movie has just started. But, the TV is going, the movie is running and the audio racks are in full service (translation - the sound is loud). So, now i’ll sit and shut my mouth and watch TV. Thanks, and have a good evening.

There are a few things in my life I’d like to do.

Alpine Village Family April 5th, 2008

Hubby and I dont’ have the same interests. As a “good wife” I’ve just gone along with whatever he’s told me to do or not do for a long time.

Lately though it’s started to get to me. There are simple things like movies I’d really like to see that aren’t stupid or assinine. I’ve always wanted to see Sicko. I hear it’s pretty facinating and about the Canandian health care system VS medicare part d etc.

I’ve also always wanted to go see the Dream Homes that they give away for lotteries. I’ll have to find a friend who likes that kind of thing I guess.
