Alpine Village Family is written with humour and honesty and is intended to entertain while also sharing some of my favourite things - from baby gadgets to advice I've heard.

Is there something you'd like to have me write about? Do you have something to share? Tell me about it. In the meantime, read on Friend :)

Whatch-a doing?

Alpine Village Family January 21st, 2009

I need a watch. Nothing fancy… although I’d love a fancy one like a Patek Philippe… but really I just need to know what time it is :) . It’s driving me crazy. Ever since I lost my old one - which I loved - I’ve been going nutty looking at my arm every time I want to make sure I’m not late LOL! I guess I need to go get another one though and stop complaining… it’s not like anyone is going to buy me a new one if I don’t…

I feel stout

Alpine Village Family January 13th, 2009

Well here we are again… my pants - yes even my “fat pants” - are tight. I’ve become a walking, talking definition of what “muffin top” means as my pants not so gracefully pouff over the top of my pants LOL! …ack… not that funny really.

So, now what to do about it? I’ve tried not to eat so much but darnit I’m having a tough time with it. I’m thinking now of maybe trying natural weight loss supplements. We’ll see what works. I’ll keep you posted ;)

Aches and pains

Alpine Village Family January 8th, 2009

It’s funny but when I feel good I really tend to take it for granted. I know that sounds silly but when I have an ache I realize how lucky I was to feel good… know what I mean?

Similarly I feel bad for people who are in pain all the time. Like someone who is in pain just walking. Like someone who has arthritis - that would be really tough :(

What are your favourite low cal goodies?

Alpine Village Family January 6th, 2009

When I have the sweets cravings hit I tend to go for some jube jubes “gummies” as my kids call them :). I’ll also have a small bag of Doritos for 250 calories if I’m feeling like I MUST have chips but man o man, the calories add up fast if I’m eating regular potato chips - so I tend to avoid even having them in my house LOL!

Is There Lingere After Kids?

Alpine Village Family January 5th, 2009

Do you have kids? After you had them did you have any interest in sex? I mean I think most moms take a break from that for a little while until we are more rested. Then we are back to ourselves BUT what about wearing sexy lingere? Do you bother? Or do you even feel sexy after having kids? It took me a while but I’m back to that sexy feeling… but then again, I’m also single so maybe that’s why…

Renos My Way

Alpine Village Family January 5th, 2009

I’ve been thinking doing some home renovations this year. I’m pretty sure I can learn how to do most things as long as something like heavy lifting isn’t involved :) I’m thinking all I need is a course or two at the local Home Depot and voila, I can install my own faucets. Not that I’m very picky, I just want a faucet that has a “squirty thing” LOL! :D

Have you read A New Earth?

Alpine Village Family December 26th, 2008

I haven’t yet but I generally do like the books that Oprah recommends. I do find that, since she likes to read so much, she has a good feel for what books are worth telling her readers to read. Also, if the book isn’t a good read just for it’s story line - like in fiction books - they are good at teaching a lesson of some sort. That’s why i’m considering buying “A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose” :)

Just Me and a Good Movie ;)

Alpine Village Family December 10th, 2008

Life is pretty good I have to say :) . Right now I’m curled up in a recliner watching a movie as I type this and I feel darn lucky. Really I do… I just ate good food, I have a full belly, and I’m snuggled up with great company :) . I think I’ll just grab a glass of wine and settle in. Good night :)

Have you ever eaten a fig?

Alpine Village Family December 7th, 2008

Have you? I have eaten Fig Newtons and REALLY liked them but I’ve never eaten a fig… just on it’s own - fresh and green/red. It’s on my to-do list though. I’m just not sure if I need to peel them or if I need to dry the fruit first or maybe cook it??? I dont’ want to eat it raw and then find out that I did it totally wrong. Hmmm… I need to find a fig-eating friend to ask ;)

I enjoy the US magazines

Alpine Village Family December 4th, 2008

I do. I enjoy the US magazines for the most part. Not because of the ads for things like of course, but because I find the coverage is so much more thorough. The Canadian magazines are okay too - especially if they are about something like beauty or fashion - because they give Canadian sources. But if it’s a gossip magazine (a guilty pleasure of mine every now and then), the US mags are by far the best :)
